Yes, I've been saving that Eddie Izzard quote for some time now..
Zürich is beautiful, as expected. Yesterday, when I arrived (8:05 local) everything was a little overcast. Actually, a lot overcast; I didn't actually see Switzerland until 1 minute before the plane touched down, and that's no exaggeration (I had been checking my watch obsessively throughout the flight). Natasha met me at the airport, we took the train to the Bahnhof and then walked the rest of the way to her flat. She explained to me that on Sundays the stores are closed and thus the city looked somewhat less populated than I had been led to believe. With the exception of one police car that sped by (it's wail almost deafening us) I was by far the noisiest thing around, dragging my luggage across cobblestone street after street.
A brief hot shower and not-so-brief nap later (it was, after all, 3am as far as my body was concerned), Natasha and I went for a walk; she took me to the edge of the Zürichsee but it was still too overcast to see the Alps in the distance. We went over the Münsterbrücke and meandered around town a bit, then returned home to defrost, eat dinner, and sleep.
About This Blog
Essentially a travel journal, this blog is a collection of pictures, anecdotes, and occasional useful information gleaned from my experiences trying to see all there is to see. The other blog I author, Taschen, focuses on medieval purses and bags. I am also a major contributor to the New York Historical Fencing Association's blog.
